< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence W Gets More Bearded![]() MEAT MARKET Knightley, McAvoy Its February issue features both a hungry-looking Keira Knightley and her co-star in the long perfume ad, er movie, Atonement, James McAvoy (full cover after the jump). Flip forward and you also get some beefed up manly content, including articles on the testosterone soaked CAA building in Los Angeles, and a piece on ICM chief Chris Silbermann—you know, should the mag should need to score future covers with stars not repped by CAA. But if Condé Nast is aiming to score with men at the newsstands, they seemed to nail their likely target audience best with the report on page 58, "Daddy's Little Helpers," about gay men in Hollywood who become soccer papas via borrowed eggs and surrogate mothers. In spite of their past covers featuring a rugged Brad Pitt and Angelina or a chiseled David Beckham with wife Victoria, its hard to imagine your average hetero male rushing out to check out the latest Steven Klein editorial, no matter how many people with penises it may feature, seeing as its usually buried between ads for Ferragamo slingbacks, diamond baubles, and bras by Chantelle. Memo to the art department at W: Heteros usually catch on that they're not the intended audience when the men on your covers are drenched in body oil and/or are prettier than the women with them. ![]() c
