Some look at the now-infamous Chicago businessman Tony Rezko and see a guy who looks vaguely like Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Others, like Barack Obama, see an old pal who is now a massive, horrifying political liability. Ergo, Obama is shedding more than $70,000 in Rezko-related campaign cash, adding to some $80,000 he's already ditched. The announcement that this new traunch of Rezko dollars (which came from the jailed businessman's family and employees) was being donated to charity was timed in hopes it might be lost in the Florida primary news cycle, a purpose that is even further served by John Edwards' drop-out announcement this afternoon.
