Chelsea Chases the Sorority Girl Vote

STUMPY Clinton
Chelsea Clinton returned to her alma mater last night to do some campaigning for the moms. Clinton spoke to about 100 Stanford women in the Pi Beta Phi sorority lounge. (Note: That's way more Ivy Leaguers than Princeton gathered for Hillary at happy hour last week.) No word yet if anyone was wearing pajamas or velvet loungewear.

Carolyn Forstein, an associate with the Clinton campaign in San Francisco and a member of Stanford Students for Hillary, said Chelsea's surprise sorority campaign stop was part of an effort to target Hillary's "core demographic," also known as women. However, these sorority girls seem pretty far from the working class ladies that helped Hillary take New Hampshire—or even, say, those gals who lost her Iowa.

"I'm overcome by nostalgia," Chelsea said in the Q&A, recalling her college days at Stanford, but Radar's pop psychologist finds a deeper meaning: Chelsea is really referring to joyful nostalgia she's experiencing having to campaign for a parent yet again.

She also chatted about Iraq. "I can tell you what my mom said—that she would end the war tomorrow if she could" ... but she can't, so ...

Chelsea also drew a line between her mother's health-care plan and Barack Obama's, saying Hillary was committed to a universal approach, while Obama favors "'virtual' universal healthcare, which would make it an option for people to buy into the system." Chelsea added, "What my mother argues is that if you don't mandate that everyone have health care, the healthy people may not buy into the system, which means that the average cost of insuring people is a lot higher." Too bad the Obama kids aren't old enough to jump on the "my mommy says" campaign trail.

Now, admit it: You're wondering what Chelsea was wearing and how her hair looked. We're above discussing such things [Ed. note: Speak for yourself. She's looked better.], but you can click here for a picture.
