< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Bush Secret Shredding Soars
Does Halliburton happen to have the paper shredding contracts lol? Posted by: Webcam Chat on December 15, 2007 2:56 AM Interesting how in the wrong hands, the truth can quickly become a lie...
Behold, the Bush Administration in chart form: Federal spending on paper shredding has increased more than 600 percent since George W. Bush took office.
However, the truth is a little different... First of all, of the top 5 districts that contract out schredding services, four are controlled by democrats. Top 5 Known Congressional Districts where Work is Performed
Internal Revenue Service $5,471,067
Paper Shredding Services $13,079,687
What I find interesting is that given the locations of where the money is being spent, and the breakdown in actual expendatures, the one place that can not be easily explained for having a huge paper schredding budget is the current home of Hillary Clinton.
Posted by: seabear70 on December 15, 2007 12:22 PM If this was a conspiracy of Democrats the graph wouldn't have spiked until 2007. Where the buildings sit is less interesting than who is contracting them, for what (as if we'll know), and what candidates benefited. Given the K Street Project and the like, Republican pork is a safe bet. Posted by: Sunlight on December 15, 2007 3:48 PM Wow. What a shock! The majority of documents are shredded in the districts with the largest concentrations of government agencies! Lets see... DC, the capitol of the US... NY 14th includes part of New York City including the United Nations, Maryland's 8th is the suburbs of DC, home to many federal agencies. Illinois' 7th includes much of downtown Chicago, likely including several federal offices. I'm not familiar enough with Georgia to tell you what's in it's 8th district , but judging from it's location (parts of Dekalb, Rockdale, and Gwinnett counties, in the Atlanta metro area), it's a safe assumption that there are a fair number of federal agencies in the vicinity. (BTW, 5 minutes with Google could have given you all this information had you bothered to look) Even if your theory that it was the Dems doing all of the shredding was true, what makes you think they'd haul everything back to their home district to do it? If I'm not mistaken, most of the actual work that any given congressperson does happens in DC, not in their home district. Seems like your theory is a bit weak after all. And finally, one of the few things that the Bush administration doesn't try to keep secret is it's obsession with secrecy. Why are you trying to blame the Dems for something that even Cheney would probably admit? Could it be that you're a bit insecure? Posted by: gnoodles on December 16, 2007 3:47 AM Advertisement So, are we all agreed that this is not a conspiracy? LOL Here's the thing, there is way more evidence in this article that the Dims are hiding something than the Republicans, which still means there is nothing here to persue. What has happened is that privacy laws and the shift to electronic storage have increased the number of documents legally required to be destroyed dramatically. Yet it's ok if people throw this BS story in the faces of the republicans, if I turn it around and show the evidence that the Dims are the ones responsible, then it make this a whole different game now, doesn't it? Posted by: seabear70 on December 16, 2007 12:55 PM Boy that's a real shocker Bush/Cheney shredding documents! Just like what Bush/Cheney has done to the Constitution and America for that matter, they just keep on shredding and shredding with no end is sight. When will these psychopaths (if ever) be held accountable for all the crimes they have committed against humanity? It doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.
Posted by: Kawika Swenson on December 16, 2007 7:59 PM seabear70 is completely wrong- this graph shows shredding by federal agencies, not by individual congresspeople. You don't need 5 minutes worth of googling, you need only follow the link and view the individual transactions. All the contracts are listed, and the clients are DHS, the Department of Treasury, etc. So the shredding is being done under the direction of Bush appointees, not by Democrats. Anybody surprised by this clearly isn't paying attention. Posted by: laurencePassmore on December 18, 2007 8:30 PM Interesting laurance... You've actually managed to turn a failed conspiracy into a laughing stock by suggesting that the IRS, the DHS, etc's schredding papers is as a result of Bush, even after I managed to point out how stupid this article is. Tell me something... How big a warerhouse would be required to store the paperwork that is required by law to be destroyed containing confidential information if it was kept forever?
