This is why French Vogue editrix Carine Roitfeld trumps Anna Wintour every time. Behold her latest cover for a tribute issue to Bruce Weber as shot by photographer Bruce Weber: Oh, look! There's model Carolyn Murphy, and there's performance artist Andre J. (some of you may remember him from the Mal Sirrah fashion show) in drag. No staid portraits of Jennifer Connolly or Reese Witherspoon here. And—gasp!—we can even see their teeth! Let's all do a wave for the freaky French and for creative director Fabien Baron, who manages to make this draggy image into high art. Now, go smoke a Gauloise.

I recently returned from Paris where the streets are buzzing over the Vogue November cover. The French are now completely in love with Andre J. They can't stop "googling" him and buzzing about how amazing this being Andre J. truly is. Something tells me that the U.S. will be a much more difficult sale, but this is why French Vogue is forging ahead whilst American Vogue is simply staying the same. p.s. thanks for the video clip of Mal Sirrah - I am sure the world is soon to find out more about this talented designer as well - Good Job Radar!
