Milla Porks Up, Wins Friends

It's always refreshing to hear that even genetically blessed celebs chunk up after plowing through Krispy Kremes. But a very pregnant Milla Jovovich provoked nasty backlash from a British tabloid after gaining 70 pounds.

The Daily Mail said her red carpet appearance this week at the Resident Evil: Extinction premiere was a horrendous "what not to wear" moment and called her "enormous."

Indeed, Jovovich has ballooned from 130 pounds to nearly 200, and has admitted to press that she packed girth with glee: "It's unbelievable how quickly it all happened, all I did was eat three bagels every morning with butter, peanut butter, and jelly all over them, a few boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts for lunch and boom! I'm tipping the scale at 195!"

And though Jovovich has made her career on her looks and not her acting chops, as anyone who has seen Return to the Blue Lagoon can attest, some people still have her ample back.

Danielle Friedland, the founder of the site celebrity-babies.com, who has posted on Jovovich's expanding girth, tells Radar that not only is she looking good, but that eating for two (or three) will make people (especially women) like Milla even more. "People get interested in [celeb] pregnancies because it's another way to see celebs as normal people—because they've been so restricted by their diets while they are working, in some cases they gain much more you would in a normal pregnancy.... When you see Milla Jovovich suddenly a normal size, there's a relief. These are people who finally start looking like us. It humanizes them."

Milla, meanwhile, can look forward to plenty of future offers to shill for Jenny Craig or host the next season of The Biggest Loser. We're guessing that instead she'll repent her carb-y ways and go for an exclusive Us Weekly weight loss cover in about three months.

Comments

omg. leave the woman alone! even at a so called 70 lb.'s overweight, she looks better than most of us moms on our best day. as for the snide comment about her lack of acting talent... i'd like to know how many block-buster movies that writer has headlined. Hmmm?
BTW : Although I've enjoyed many of the movies she's been in, I wouldn't particularly call myself a fan. I'm just so sick of people in the press playing the "fat card" and then turning around and lamenting the influences that encourage eating disorders in our society.
