Will Karl Rove Save Fred Thompson?

With Karl Rove out of the West Wing, Fred Thompson, whose Law & Order novelty has been wearing thin among conservatives, must be salivating.

Rove says his departure is about spending more time with his family, but it neatly coincides with Thompson's expected announcement about his White House plans. Chatter about Rove potentially masterminding Thompson's 2008 campaign is only getting louder as more and more Bush loyalists sign on to Thompson's campaign.

Asked about the prospect of a Rove-run campaign, former Rove spokesman and current Thompson spokesman (ahem) Mark Corallo tells Radar, "I really don't think Karl Rove is going to have anything to do with any campaign in 2008... I talked to him today, and we shared some e-mails and I told him, 'Enjoy your time with your family and take care of [your wife] Darby.'"

1st... It may be asking a bit too much... but what makes you think conservatives care about the "Law & Order Novelty?" Most Fred Fans I know have like the guy based on his 10 years in the Senate... and Even if you do watch that show he's only on 60 to 90 seconds each episode... heck... I get that much of Hillary and Barrack every night on the news... but I wouldn't vote for them. So it must be something other than TV face time... you think?

2nd... what makes you think the Novelty is "wearing thin"? FDT's numbers only continue to rise... he raised more money in his first month of fundraising that all other GOP condidates except Romney and he has yet to spend any money on campaigning... and he placed higher than front runners Rudy and McCain in the Iowa Straw Poll... when he does declare he'll be one of only two candidates with a campaign surplus... doesn't sound like he needs anybody to "save" him...

Hello hello hello... echo echo echo.
