< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Aniston Gets Smart about Saving Water![]() BRUSH WASHED UP? Jennifer Aniston It turns out the actress best known for playing Rachel Green has a green streak of her own. "I take a three-minute shower," the new face of Smartwater tells Elizabeth Rogers and Thomas Kostigen, authors of The Green Book, a how-to guide filled with celebrities' advice for would-be environmentalists. (Cameron Diaz wrote the foreword.) "I even brush wash—brush my teeth while I shower. Every two minutes in the shower uses as much water as a person in Africa uses for everything in their life for a whole day!" Aniston's evident good intentions almost make us forget about all the water that's wasted in the manufacture of plastic bottles like the ones Smartwater comes in. As for the efficiency of the "brush wash" versus brushing one's teeth over the sink—well, we'll leave that one to the experts. Dentists: Go. "I even brush wash--brush my teeth while I shower. Every two minutes in the shower uses as much water as a person in Africa uses for everything in their life for a whole day!" -She's either a bad 'environmentalist' or she's straight up mentally retarded: How much water does it take to brush your teeth? Rinse your brush for a second, turn off the faucet, brush for a minute or two, and rinse your mouth out. Unless you keep the faucet on while you brush there is hardly any water wasted. Sheyrl Crow may be completely nuts as an environmentalist but at least her ideas follow some sort of logic. If what Aniston says about the shower/Africa thing is true, then wouldn't she waste more water by wasting shower time brushing her teeth than by over the sink? I highly doubt she takes a 3 minute shower anyway. Posted by: asd81 on June 15, 2007 7:36 PM Oh please, she is not mentally retarded. She's someone trying to her bit for the environment. Brushing your teeth over the sink uses a lot more water than in the shower (it's something you can do to help and I see the person who wrote the comment has no intention of doing it). I see it's much more fun to slag people off than trying to see how they are being useful. And how would you know she takes shower longer than 3 minutes? Do you live in the same house as jennifer aniston? Posted by: jennifer on June 16, 2007 10:33 AM If you do you should really call PEOPLE or HELLO to let them know immediately. Posted by: jennifer on June 16, 2007 10:35 AM I am not sure if you are aware of the concept of water flow, but a sink faucet flow is significantly less than a shower flow, which means less water comes from your faucet than your showerhead. And considering that rinsing a brush in a faucet takes a second or two, how much water is wasted? I am only 'slagging' her off because she is doing much more harm to the environment than good, and is being a hypocrite by lecturing people about the sparse water use of Africans. If you stopped worshipping at her altar you might realize that. Did you actually read the article above? Does her promotion of Smartwater not completely contradict her personal desire to conserve water? Can you see why that would be like bragging about how you drive a hybrid car while being a spokesman for Hummer? Posted by: asd81 on June 16, 2007 5:10 PM Advertisement It's funny how someone who doesn't know Aniston personally knows exactly she takes shower longer than 3 minutes! LOL. Posted by: giggle on June 17, 2007 6:54 AM I really worry for people like you asd81. Everyone knows that the one or two minutes you spend distractedly washing yourself in the shower while attempting to simultaneously brush your teeth SAVES HEAPS MORE WATER than the 200-300ml tops you use brushing your teeth at the sink (water in a glass or ensure the tap if off while you brush). And Jennifer looks like that all the time, I heard she sometimes doesn't even shower for a week and still smells like roses. And as for her sponsorship arrangements, that's just for the money! They can't buy her opinion, I'm sure the clearly sharp and keenly aware JA fans such as those who have posted here can differentiate between JA out for a buck and JA getting serious! Besides, she is rich, famous, and super fantastic. If she wants to waste water it is up to the rest of us to pick up the slack. GO AFRICA! Posted by: jennifer4EVA on June 19, 2007 12:17 AM ASD81 is the only voice of reason here. I worry about how the others get through daily life if they truly believe that brushing your teeth while water is pouring out of a showerhead uses less water than wetting your toothbrush for 1/100th of a second, brushing your teeth, and then rinsing your toothbrush for another millisecond. They're either hopelessly stupid or so blinded by Jennifer Aniston worship that they can't think straight -- or both. Posted by: doheny on June 17, 2008 1:53 PM |
