Veronica Hearst's $27M Must-go Manse

hearst_front.jpg
HOME IS WHERE THE HEARST IS 1100 S. Ocean Blvd.

Even the super rich sometimes struggle to sell their palaces, and it looks like Fabiola's mom, Veronica Hearst, is one of them. Hearst is likely to lose her Balenciaga skirt on the nine-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion in Palm Beach that she and husband Randolph A. Hearst bought in 2000 (just a few months before the publishing scion's death). It cost the couple $29.9 million and has been quietly listed since 2003, but in the last couple of months, Hearst dropped the price to $27 mil. It hasn't seemed to help.

The place has massive dining and living rooms, but what stands out about the main house are its four kitchens packed with enough equipment to feed every Lily Pulitzer-clad blue blood in town.

The manse's deeded dock on the Intracoastal Waterway is plenty big enough for parking a yacht. The nine bedrooms and eight-and-a-half baths in the staff wing will keep the boat's crew cozy between cruises.

Of course, for landlubbers, there's a six-car garage, too. Know any Palm Beach billionaires who are short on space?
