< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence McCain Staffers Bail Off the Crazy Train![]() OFF THE RAILS McCain "They're imploding—he had a game plan that had him announcing much later in the year," one top Republican aide tells Radar, adding that the campaign is "in serious trouble ... Romney's plan and Rudy's jump in the polls caused him to scrap his plans completely. When you do that, and you're not prepared for it, the staff goes crazy. Some of his coordinators in different states were pulling their hair out!" Another insider, a guru to the conservative movement, says that McCain himself is growing increasingly desperate in the wake of his downward slide in the polls—a slip hastened by his steadfast support of the very man who savaged him and his family during the 2000 election, George W. Bush, and the president's unpopular plan for troop surge in Iraq. "One of the top aides to the Republican leadership told me that McCain has lost so much support, he's simply beside himself. He's wringing his hands. Things are sinking fast—in two or three weeks, we'll know if there is any recovery." It didn't help any that McCain was the one leading Republican candidate who skipped last weekend's Conservative Political Action Conference. In CPAC's straw poll on Saturday, McCain came in fifth place—behind Sam Brownback. When the results were announced, attendees booed at the mention of his name. Yeah... the ground troops of the conservative movement (mostly college-age kids) were pretty upset with McCain making time for David Letterman and then snubbing them the very next day. This flyer made it's way around the conference for a bit: Posted by: MyManMitt on March 6, 2007 12:18 PM I am beginning to think the republicans really are railroading McCain. I have noticed that the media is playing the song about his age too. Chris Matthews has been asking "is McCain too old?" I don't really trust McCain but it is like sharks in a feeding frenzy. He is too conservative for me, but they are obviously going after him. Hope they go after Rudy "family values" too. 3 marriages is what a good family values advocate supports. lol Posted by: violet47 on March 6, 2007 4:36 PM In the beginning, I was leaning towards McCain and not even giving Giuliani and Romney a look (even more so, Guiliani - he's a liberal, NOT a Conservative!). However, after really studying the issues and taking a closer look at McCain - he does bother me in quite a few areas - age, McCain-Feingold Bill, McCain NOT being a very good public speaker (we need someone more articulate and energetic than Bush, and McCain won't do it!), McCain NEVER showing up for Conservative conventions or meetings in the last few months, McCain not being consistant on abortion and gay-marriage (I'm against both) - all this has caused me to look at Mitt Romney. In contrast, I believed all the media and liberal hype that Romney was a flip-flopper, and that he changed his views for politics sake. However - I now know that he honestly and truly converted his views on abortion, and that he was NEVER for gay marriage (the media and left-wingers will try to convice you otherwise). I am sold! Mitt Romney is the BEST Conservative candidate in the field! He's got my vote! Posted by: Jacosta on March 6, 2007 5:00 PM This is just hilarious. McCain waited for eight years to be annointed with the republican nomination like GWB was, and now that it isn't happeneing, he doesn't know what to do. He never expected to be challenged. His whole plan was to have public sex with George Bush to cement his ascension to the nomination, but he never noticed that Bush's numbers are in the twenties, and that America (except some inconsequential psychos like Ann (the man) Coulter) now dislikes anyone associated with this administration. I mean, this is just freaking hilarious. I can't stop laughing. He bet his entire future on the Bushes, and they did what they always do-- they failed. Posted by: Not So Rich on March 6, 2007 10:37 PM Advertisement Not that the media will ever stoop to mentioning something this obvious, but McCain's skin cancer hasn't healed. Virtually every time he's photographed on his left side, there's an open wound on his temple. That side of his face is swollen near the jaw line. I'm not a doctor, but all you have to do is look at the man to know something is the matter. The media is complicit in the whole thing. They usually photograph him from an angle that doesn't show any of this. And course they never talk about it. God forbid they should do that. Oh yeah, and the emperor has no clothes. The U.S. was defeated in Iraq at least two years ago, but even now none of them has the guts to mention what we all know. Carry on with this Kabuki theatre. It's kind of entertaining in a historical sort of way. Posted by: CharlesWilson on March 7, 2007 2:22 AM |
