Lowe's: Let's Boycott O'Reilly Together

LOWER THAN LOWE'S O'Reilly
Having the highest-rated news show on cable will get you a free pass on a lot of stuff, but not, apparently, blaming an adolescent kidnapping victim for his own abduction.

Home-improvement chain Lowe's has pulled its advertising from The O'Reilly Factor following comments host Bill O'Reilly made about Shawn Hornbeck, the 15-year-old Missouri boy who recently returned to his parents after four years in captivity.

On Jan. 15, during a segment with fellow FNC anchor Greta Van Susteren, O'Reilly insisted that Hornbeck failed to seize opportunities to escape his captor because "there was an element here that this kid liked about his circumstances." Over Van Susteren's protests, O'Reilly elaborated: "The situation here, for this kid, looks to me to be a lot more fun than what he had under his 'old' parents. He didn't have to go to school, he could run around and do whatever he wanted."

Despite subsequent developments in the case—such as the revelation that Hornbeck participated in the capture of another youth—Lowe's did not take kindly to O'Reilly's analysis. According to News Hounds, a watchdog website that monitors Fox News Channel, viewers who complained to the retailer about its financial support of The O'Reilly Factor got e-mails back notifying them that Lowe's had pulled its ads as of Jan. 25.

A Fox News spokeswoman confirms the pullout, but says Lowe's advertising had simply been shifted to other programs on the network, not canceled. "To my knowledge, no other advertisers have taken similar action," she adds.

Lowe's is a great store-- does Bill O shop at either, probably NOT. Does Bush shop at Lowe's or Cheney??
NO!!!I salute Lowe's for taking a stand against the lies from the Fox noise channel.

My son works at Lowe's, My sister works at Home Depot...either way, WE win.

If you can't take the truth about this situation, then stop watching/reading about it. The boy done what he did because he WANTED to. End of story. Glad someone has enough fortitude about themselves to tell it like it is! It's a crazy world where people/businesses listen to the minority. It's time to stand up for the truth, regardless of the outcome.

Wow tph1956, I hope your kids are better "edumacated" than your ignorant self.
11 years old, ELEVEN. What expectations can you evoke on a young child who has barely any life experience to go on? All Children are different from each other as well as raised differently. "Salutation here"

Looks like vondracek76 and tph 1956 are from the same braintrust.
vondracek76, wacko O'Reilly made the statement about the boy, not Lowe's. How in the world could anyone with half a brain read the above story and not understand that? It is hard to tell which is worse, your spelling or your reading comprehension. tph1956 you are a cretin. Just because you liked it as a little boy doesn't mean all little boys like it.

Well, mannkar, I can see your kids are probably not to "edumacated", but that falls directly on you. And you, slamkitty, I think you are taking your name a little too seriously. The only thing I liked too much as a kid was being raised to know right from wrong, just as my kids were. Now, see if either of you can say something about the facts of this incident instead of trying to deflect attention away from it by your comments on other readers.

I am starting boycotting Lowe's as I have always done with infantile, unsubstantiated, hoopla-attacks.
