Bloggers Should Be Read and Not Seen

BLOG OF MYSELF Pink is the New Blog puts himself on Time
Mario "Perez Hilton" Lavandeira, what hath thou wrought? Over the years, Hollywood's most-hated D-list parasite has unleashed countless innovations on the medium of blogging. For instance, cartoon cum dribbles and getting sued for $7.6 million dollars. But his most repulsive tic to date—the one that's spread virus-like across the Web—has been posting photos of his own goofy mug, quite literally ad nauseum.

Isn't it a tad hypocritical for embittered nerds who feast on celebrity narcissism and self-regard to make like Norma Desmond whenever a camera's around?

Take this snap of Lavandeira with rubberfaced JAPtress Tori Spelling stroking the "gossip gangsta" like a pet gorilla. Or this hardass shot of an unshaven Matt Drudge in the Middle East, reminding the world that "This is the most exciting moment in the history of News..." Or this fake ad featuring Mediabistro's Dylan Stableford, which he used to illustrate a post on American Apparel. Then, of course, there's Gawker, that steely bastion of self-awareness. Earlier this afternoon, Gawker launched its own Pinup Gallery intended to showcase its blogworld hangers-on.

Those examples, by the way, are all from today.

All of it--blogging, youtube, etc. etc. is happening, more than anything, because everybody wants to be famous....Which means fame becames worth less, as more and more people can achieve it

Oh well.
