< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Is David Bowie A Label Whore?![]() WRISTY BUSINESS Bowie, Iman The sight of a trendsetter like Bowie flaunting his tag might have caused other partygoers to wonder whether they had missed a memo. Is this how the kids are doing it these days? They needn't worry. While Bowie's reps didn't comment, GQ style editor Adam Rapoport says there is no nascent vogue for visible labels on high-end apparel. "It's a definite fashion don't," he confirms. "It's not like the Lacoste crocodile or the Polo pony. You would never, ever walk out of a Valentino store with a label on the outside of your jacket." Rapoport speculates that Bowie borrowed the suit for the event, and didn't realize the tag was still attached: "It's the sartorial equivalent of having a piece of parsley in your teeth and no one points it out to you." ![]() Bowie's a jackass. He hasn't made a good record since Let's Dance. Posted by: spazzatura on November 7, 2006 11:20 AM Still stuck in the Top Forty 80's, are you? Well, you should try "Heathen" or "Reality." Oh, wait. Those albums didn't have a #1 hit, so you probably wouldn't like them. Your loss. Posted by: secondparrot on November 7, 2006 4:13 PM It might be a trick of the photo, but that fancy suit looks like it's made out of a window screen. Posted by: Pyleia on November 7, 2006 4:22 PM Like his fans, Bowie is egotistical. He could look like hell and everyone would tell him he looks great! Funny thing is, femaile entertainers his age, like Cher or Tina Turner...? Wouldn't be caught dead in public looking like this. Posted by: Hanuman on November 21, 2006 6:20 PM Advertisement |
