Dude, You're Gettin' a Mac

Earlier, we reported that Waiting star Justin Long is being dropped from Apple's "I'm a Mac" ad campaign. It seems pocket-protected "PC guy" John Hodgman comes off as more likeable to viewers, even though he's supposed to be the Bill Gates-ey enemy. Radar took that logic and ran with it, suggesting a former PC dude to replace Long in the ads. And, just for safety, we called back a buzzy, popular Mac icon, that stoner girl from the "Switch" ads. We leave the decision to you.

In these ads John Hodgeman does not represent the PC, he represents the PC user. The viewer says "This guy is all right; he likes music and movies and fun photographs, just like I do. He'd be way cooler than that hoodied Mac-guy, if he had the right hardware." The percieved backlash against Justin Long's character is actually the sound of the ad series working.
