Early warning signs include former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavalleri strutting the red carpet at the Guess? party Tuesday night, and her MTV homegirls, Heidi Montag and former fake Teen Vogue intern Lauren Conrad, yawning and snapping gum through an entire Miss Sixty show at the Guggenheim, as if they'd rather be slurping fro-yo in the food court at the Beverly Center.
To be sure, if the tip-sheets flooding inboxes at Condé are to be trusted (and they're not), some of the 'bots are genuine A-list: expect W's Camilla Nickerson and her ilk to fight over arm rests with the likes of Mischa Barton (at Nanette Lapore); Kirsten Dunst (at Marc Jacobs); stick-insect Kate Bosworth (at Jill Stuart); Heather Graham (at Diesel); and Drew Barrymore at Calvin Klein. Of course, don't be shocked if none of them show, and Patrick McMullan's troops are stuck snapping the Beth Ostroskys of the world. At least the eloquent Jamie Lynn Siegler (our favorite celebrity impersonator) will have a handy soundbite. (Look for her at Monique Lhuillier).
The prospect of so many Rachel Zoe-ified actresses has predictably left some local socialites miffed. One plasticene Upper-East-Sider sniffed, "When I went to Luca Luca last year—and I am a loyal customer—a girl with a clipboard kept 'sweetie-ing' me and pointing to the fourth row, in front of all of my friends. I was so mortified, and I left." Who do you have to sleep with on national televion to get decent treatment in Bryant Park these days?
