Mold & No Running Water! Teresa Giudice Recalls Horrifying Prison Conditions: 'It Was Hell!'

Teresa Giudice may have been criticized for receiving preferential treatment during her year-long prison stint, but her time behind bars was hardly glamorous, she told Good Morning America in her first TV interview.

"It was no country club, trust me," she told ABC News reporter Amy Robach of her Danbury, Connecticut-based Federal Correctional Institution. "I mean there was mold in the bathrooms. There was not running water constantly. The showers were freezing cold…It was definitely living in hell."

But the 43-year-old mother of four swore she was fine living without her accustomed comforts, including makeup and designer clothes.

"I don't need any of it. I was fine just being who I am," she insisted, adding that the hardest part was just being away from her husband, Joe, 43, and four daughters.

In another part of the revealing interview, she said she told Gia, Gabriella, Milania and Audriana that she was heading to "camp," not prison before making her heartbreaking goodbye.

"I told them mommy was going to write a book," she explained to Robach.

She wasn't exactly lying. Giudice's shocking new prison memoir, Turning the Tables, hits bookstores today.

As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, she earned a six-figure advance for the highly-anticipated read— and is expected to rake in a cool $3 million through her post-prison pursuits.
