Meri Brown Says 'Emotionally Abusive' Catfisher 'Would Ruin' Her Life

After discovering she was catfished by a woman online, Meri Brown knew she had to come forward with the truth.

During a Sister Wives tell-all special on Sunday, the reality star admitted that her scandal caused major concern for her family's safety.

"I just knew I had to tell someone," Brown said after deciding to confide in Kody's fourth wife, Robyn. "I knew I couldn't keep doing that. They would ruin my life. That was said to me many times. I believe that's what the goal was, to break up this family."

Even early on in the online relationship—which started after Brown's daughter Mariah left for college and she felt lonely—the reality star claims she "knew something wasn't right."

"There were times early on that I was talking to him that I knew he was just feeding me a line of bulls**t, and I chose to ignore it because I enjoyed just talking to somebody," she said, as RadarOnline.com previously reported.

When the relationship turned sour, Brown claims her catfisher was "verbally abusive" and threatened to do some "damage" to her family before her true identity was revealed.

Surprisingly, Kody revealed that he was supportive of Brown's situation.

"What I see is somebody she made friends with, somebody she felt safe with, but she was just having a communication," Kody shared during the tell-all special.

Sister Wives airs Sundays on TLC at 8 p.m. ET.
