Long before she was a serious journalist, Megyn Kelly was a sassy teen who shoplifted, threw boozy house parties, and lied to her parents!

The Fox News talking head finally tells all about her wild life before fame in her juicy new memoir, Settle For More.

"I tested the limits like all kids do, including shoplifting once," she writes.

At age 15, on Halloween in 1985, she explains how a friend's mother balked at buying some plastic jewelry that the two pals had spotted at Kmart.

"So we stole it," says Kelly.

When their parents found out, Kelly's father, Edward, marched them over to the store and made them return their loot and apologize to the manager, she recalls.

Kelly also admits throwing a boozy party when her parents were out of town. And another time, she writes, she and a friend told their families they were going to a racetrack near their upstate home — when they actually went to New York City to meet some boys.

She insists, however, that through it all she steered clear from drugs.

Her wild phase was short-lived, however, when a personal tragedy struck.

Ten days before Christmas that year, Kelly says she threw a temper tantrum when her father refused to buy her a class ring, saying it was too expensive. He stared at the Christmas tree, ashamed at having had to admit money problems, as Kelly stormed upstairs to her bedroom, "without saying good night or even acknowledging him. I turned out the light and went to sleep angry," she writes.

Just before midnight, her father died of a heart attack.

"The last image I have of my father alive is of him alone on the couch," she writes. "That sight would haunt me for the rest of my life."
