As Kate Gosselin and seven of her eight children star on the new season of Kate Plus 8, the reality star's troubled son Collin remains in a treatment facility for his special needs. But is the preteen in good hands?

The 12-year-old's Philadelphia-area center has been accused of permitting sick patients to escape and others to erupt into vicious fights, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

The facility, which RadarOnline.com has chosen not to name for privacy reasons, has been slammed with multiple lawsuits accusing staff of negligent behavior.

In one 2011 suit, a former male patient and his family claimed the center allowed the man to run out the front door to freedom while under its care.

The patient said he suffered injuries during the escape, including a lacerated neck and rib, before local police finally placed him in their possession.

In another lawsuit filed three years later, a former employee claimed the facility was dangerously understaffed, leaving counselors unable to control unruly residents.

The plaintiff alleged two patients — many of whom were allegedly addicts and former convicts — became entangled in a scary physical altercation during a group meeting.

Both of the lawsuits were settled out of court.

In a People magazine cover story, Kate, 41, publicly admitted her son was receiving treatment away from home for unspecified struggles in August.

Sources told RadarOnline.com that the boy suffered from "anger issues" stemming in part from his parents' nasty 2009 divorce.

"He is resentful and blames his mother for everything," an insider revealed.
