Judge Judy's son Adam Levy finally won $150,000 and a public apology in a nasty defamation lawsuit, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Putman County Sheriff Don Smith claimed Levy, the county's former District Attorney, housed and protected personal trainer Alexandru Hossu, an undocumented Romanian immigrant who was arrested and later acquitted for child rape in 2014.

"These statements were untrue and I should not have made them," Smith said in his mea culpa. "Mr. Hossu did not then reside at your home. He was arrested at another location where he then lived. I know that you did not interfere with the investigation of Mr. Hossu. Nor is there any evidence that you had any knowledge of Mr. Hossu's immigration status or were intentionally harboring an illegal alien."

The former district attorney of Putnam County, accepted $150,000 as compensation for the false statement Smith, 69, distributed to the press in 2013 after arresting Hossu.

The 48-year-old Republican who lost his re-election bid in 2015, said Smith's actions were "carefully designed" to "influence" the election, and voters should remember that when his nemesis seeks to enter his fifth term in November.

Levy has deemed the final settlement a true victory, "not just for me but for everyone in my county who demands honesty and integrity from their elected officials."

Meanwhile, Levy's millionaire mother issued her own statement.

"Today, Adam Levy has won his hard fought battle for his integrity, his honesty, his reputation, his honor. Most of all he won his battle for the truth," she said. "The lesson to be learned for the people of every county in this country, including Putnam, is that they must insist on integrity and honesty in their elected officials."
